LAS PALMAS

super funny name and actually my favorite part of Gran Canaria, super small lovely place on the island. It’s just to have a walk and drink a coffee and eat some tapas. And pay attention to the Canary architecture.  Markets on Sunday’s. From Teror you can go to: LAS PALMAS or into the island. Check out the tapas nights in Las Palmas. Then take a walk by the beach Las Canteras, the promenade has millions of restaurants. Or if you up to lie on the beach you can do that, or maybe surfing? If not, just take a look at the dark blue/black sand on the beach. It’s one part of the whole beach area.

Photo: Las Canteras beach – Gran Canaria (Spain)

Las Canteras beach is an urban beach considered one of the best in Europe. It is located on the side of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and features an avenue where you can walk around in its entire length. Has black volcanic sand and golden sand and the sea is degrading those colors in its path. Any sunset on the beach is magical, because in any place of the beach is different: it can be seen from a terrace having a beer, from the sand or from the lace, where you can see an optical effect in which the sun goes down Behind the mountain of Gran Canaria, and in some cases when the sky is clear you can see the teide, the highest mountain of Spain, located on the island across the street (Tenerife).

Canarian food: where to eat in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Where to eat local and seafood in Las Palmas? Food is any substance, mainly plant and animal based, consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. We have to eat to survive but also we sample and taste for pleasure. The quality of produce as well as service makes it worth eating out.

Only 10 minutes from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: The Magnificant Waves of the North Shore

If you want to avoid the mass tourism on this beautiful island, your first tought should be to go to the North. In this area the ocean is wild, the coast line is black, jaggy vulcanic stone, the weather is changing every day, the winter is rainy, the summer is hot and humid, and evry second day the wind rises above the normal. But it’s still worth to spend a few days around here. Why? Because of it’s magnificant waves, green hills, hidden bays and clear water. Let’s see one by one. Only 10 minutes from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: The Magnificant Waves of the North Shore There are legendary stories about surfing the north shore of Gran Canaria. Some might travel days to get here, and spend most of the sunny hours in the water. San Andrés and San Felipe are the most popular destinations for advanced surfers, and yes, you have to be experienced. The waves are strong, the current is powerful and the bottom is rocky. On those perfect days you find magical tunels to ride in. There might be a slightly crowd on weekends (when the local surf boddies are out of town) but for weekdays there are not many queing for those waves. On holidays and weekends there is always an ambulance car with certified life guards watching the horizon for your safety. After surfing is worth to go for a good fish dish or a good jarra (big jar of beer) in one of the local restaurants on the shore.
