Nessebar is a beautiful sea resort in Bulgarian Black Sea. It is next to the famous beach resort Sunny Beach and it is in a walking distance from it. The town is really unique and nice because there are a new age town and an old town that is preserving the ruins and history of 3000 years from Thrakicians, Byzantine Empire and Ottoman empire. I would recommend to everyone to visit especially the Ancient City of Nessebar which is in the UNESCO World Heritage List because it is a really nice walk for a one-day tour.

The modern town

You can start your walk from South Park which is a beautiful park next to the sea where you can hide from the hot sun in the summer. There are beautiful gardens with a lot of flowers and trees, a place for children to play and also nice traditional restaurant Chevermeto, where you can try the delicious traditional Bulgarian cuisine. It is good to go out of the park next to the harbour where you can see a lot of nice boats and yachts. If you continue your walk towards the Old town you will pass through the Old Wooden Windmill which is a symbol of Nessebar which is on the bridge that is connecting the new town with the Ancient City of Nessebar and everywhere around is the sea. Around the Mill there are some benches, so all the visitors can enjoy a beautiful view of Sunny Beach, Nessebar and the Ancient City.

Ancient City of Nessebar

In front of The Ancient City, you will see a well-preserved ancient stone wall from the Thracian fortifications from where your walk in the history is starting. It is good to walk on the main street of the old town and you will see actually a lot of churches from different periods, Acropolis, Angora and a Temple of Apollo. If you walk on the right side of the island where is situated in the old town you can see the Ancient Theater close to the Sea Garden. You can visit all the ruins 24 hours a day and it is free to enter, so it is a nice opportunity to explore the Ancient City of Nessebar. All the town is with old wooden and stone houses from the 19th century which are different nice restaurants, souvenir shops or small cute hotels nowadays. The place is really romantic in the evening with a lot of lights, music, amazing atmosphere and nice restaurants next to the sea. The streets are preserved and they are made of stones.

Cave Eco Bar

I would also recommend a one really nice place in the Ancient City which you will find if you walk on the left side of the island and it is close to the stone ruins of other ancient windmill and a basilica. The place is called Eco Bar Michael’s and inside is made like a real cave with all flowstones, stalactites, stalagmites and cave lake and waters. The tables and the chairs are made in the stones and you can have a nice cocktail or frappe and to enjoy the coldness of the cave in the hot summer day. It is a really beautiful and nice place to meet friends or to be with your beloved one.
