The mention of Nottingham brings out some very fond memories. Nottingham is a beautiful city in the county of Nottinghamshire in the United Kingdom famously known for the legend of Robin Hood as well as Nottingham Goose Fair.
It’s not only a great place to visit but also a fantastic place to live. It’s a brilliant city with its thriving and jovial people. It has a vibrant city centre and a great place for anyone who likes to live life to the fullest. This city offers a lot to people from all walks of life. It is home to Nottingham University which is known worldwide not only for its academic excellence but also the fantastic social life that it offers its members. You can also take a leisurely and soothing walk along the streets of the university.
Getting Up And About In The City
The city offers a very efficient transportation system. Nottingham has a well connected public transport network and all of its localities are connected by frequently running buses. The Nottingham Train Station and Nottingham Coach Station make it convenient to travel in and out of the city.
Some of the major attractions of the city are Nottingham Castle, Sherwood Forest, Wollaton Park, the Old Market Square, and Attenborough Nature Reserve.
Nottingham Castle And The Legendary Robin Hood
Nottingham Castle derives its glory from the medieval era. Also, according to the legend of Robin Hood, this was where he faced the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Over the centuries though, the castle has been rebuilt multiple times and currently serves as a peaceful and beautiful museum and art gallery.
Although Sherwood Forest is located about 20 miles from the city of Nottingham, it’s an amazing attraction spot that the county of Nottinghamshire has.
Sherwood Forest also boasts of its link with the legendary Robin Hood. Its lush greenery allows a splendid connection with nature. It also houses the famous oak tree, known as Major Oak, which, according to the legend, was Robin Hood’s hideout.

Wollaton Park is a vast stretch of grassland with herds of playful deer frolicking just about anywhere. On a sunny day, this is a beautiful place to have a picnic with family, friends or colleagues. It has breathtaking scenic views to enjoy. Wollaton Hall, which has been serving as a history museum, is located within the park.
Old Market Square
The Square is a bustling place for people of all age groups. From coffee shops, pubs and cafes to shopping centres, the square has them all and offers a peek into Nottingham’s daily life. Attenborough Nature Reserve
For those who love to connect with nature, this place needs to be on your list. It’s a great place for bird-watching and is a very important conservation site in the East Midlands of England. It’s a place of shelter for many species of birds and offers nature trails that provide great views of the habitats of several species. Herons, ducks, British woodpeckers, and skylarks are some of the wildlife that has found its place in this reserve. This place also offers activities for all age groups such as holiday clubs for children, courses for adults as well as family events.
