Nanital in India is really a mini heaven on this earth as it is the best combination of cinematic views, nature, and spirituality. This Hill station is located in headquarter of Nainital’s district Kumon foothills of the Himalayas, Uttarakhand (India).
Before going into My Story tales, I would like to give a brief history of this place. The heart of this city has the most beautiful lake which is also known as Naini lake which is believed to be one of the 68 Shakti Peeths.
Acc. to Indian Methodology, it is believed that After the death of Sati (Lord Shiva’s first wife) when Shiva himself was carrying her body all around in grief of her beloved. At that time to get Shiva out of his pain, Lord Vishnu cut Sati’s charred body with an arrow and her body parts were dropped
in different places on earth. The place where Sati’s eye fall, is called Nain-Tal (Lake of an eye), it also has Naina Devi Temple on the shore of this lake which is a huge attraction to visitors.
A lot of about the history now move forward to my travel experience of this place.
How to reach
I started from Delhi railway Station from there we boarded Kathgodam Shatabdi Express at 6:00 am in the morning. This one of the fastest
train and takes only 5hours 40 mins to cover 300km and reaches Kathgodam at 11:40 pm same day. we paid 605 /- rs per person for a ticket. you can travel by road too.
Buses will take 7:00 to 9:00 hours of journey and fare will start from 500/-.you can board the bus from ISBT Kashmiri Gate Bus Stand.
After Hopping off the train in Kathgodam again we had 2 options either to take bus or cab to Nainital. So we took Cab as it is more comfortable than a bus on the snaky mountain path. we paid 600/- for the cab for 5 people (Do good bargain). From Kathgodam to Nainital it took 2 hours for 34 km.
if you want you can take flight until Pantnagar airport which is 68 km from Nainital.
