How to get to Nara Park?

How to get to Nara Park? Nara is nearest the Osaka International Airport. If you are traveling from another country and plan to go to Nara, I would recommend landing here. Then either take the Airport Limousine to Osaka, then getting a train from Osaka to Nara.   As many people know, Japan is always famous for its elaborate train system. Travelers can get almost anywhere by just taking the right train. But it can get a bit confusing, and a bit expensive. In my case, I was coming from Tokyo. So I had to travel to Osaka in order to go to the neighboring Nara City. Traveling between Tokyo and Osaka One of the options available to me was to take the famous Bullet Train, or the Shinkansen, to and from Tokyo and Osaka. This is the fastest and most comfortable means to travel between the two cities. In order to make use of the Bullet Train, I had to either buy a Japan Rail Pass (JR Pass) or a single-use ticket. There are two types of JR Pass: the Green and Ordinary Pass. Each Pass can be bought for either 7, 14, or 21 days validity. If you want to learn more about it, please see their website here. A Single-Use Bullet Train ticket is also available if you will not be traveling to too many places in Japan. I recommend buying this instead if you are not planning on going to too many regions or if you are on a budget. Another option was to use a Bus. Night buses and Day buses are available to go to and from Tokyo and Osaka. In my case, I took a night bus from Tokyo. I purchased my tickets here. Osaka to Nara Nara Park itself is a five-minutes away from the Kintetsu Nara Station. Th Yamatoji line connects Kintetsu Nara to three key stations in Osaka: Osaka Station, Namba Station, and Tennoji Station. But if you used the JR Line, it’s about 20 minutes from the JR Nara Station. Either way, you enter the park near the Kofukuji Temple. You’ll know you’re there when you see the deer hanging around the park entrance. Oh, and Entrance here is free! Though, you may have to pay a fee to enter some temples, museums, or gardens.   Traveling in Japan My personal tips for when you travel to and around Japan:

What the f**k

KFC Buffet: This is not a drill, this exists people. The only KFC in the WHOLE world can be found in Japan in Osaka at the Expo City Complex. You will need to prepare yourself for this, and you’ll have a fairly long trip on public transport to do so because it’s not the easiest place to get to, but trust me when I say it’s worth it. For 80 minutes and only 1,880 Yen (lunch time price, about $25 AUD), you’ll have access to unlimited KFC nuggets, crispy strips, fried chicken, chips, and other not so important food like salads, pastas and desserts. Be prepared to put your name on a waiting list and come with an entirely empty and ready stomach. P.S. Japanese people will look at you weird for stacking your plate high, but it’s okay because this is your only chance to eat buffet style at KFC.

Osaka, Japan: Where it all began

Traveling has always been a dream of mine. If asked where do I see myself five years from now, I would always visualize myself walking on the streets of some random country, being one with the crowd, feeling completely and utterly at ease. Japan has always been a passing travel dream destination, I’ve dreamt about it but that’s all there really is to it. A dream. Osaka, Japan: Where it all began One spontaneous decision turned into one spontaneous adventure. It was November 2015, I randomly asked my cousin if she still wanted to push through her Japan adventure on March 2016 and she told me she did and she asked me to go with her. I thought, I’ve always wanted to travel somewhere, anywhere, so why not? After a few hours of discussing everything, we impulsively bought a ticket for March 6th until 13th. It was actually a quite expensive ticket because we were in a rush to buy, thinking it’ll get more expensive that it already is (it was about P12k+ in Philippine peso for a round trip ticket from Mnl to Kansai). You can actually watch out for seat sales at Cebu Pacific Air for flights going to Japan, there are 3 destinations (Narita/Tokyo, Kansai/Osaka and Fukuoka). A month before your trip, you have to apply for a Japanese Visa. It’s actually quite easy as long as you are able to pass all the requirements. You will get your results after 5 working days of passing your requirements. Don’t forget to reserve a hotel or in our case a hostel (where I highly recommend J-Hoppers Osaka Guesthouse if you decide to stay in Osaka, Japan) 2 months before your trip. Make sure you have a credit card with you because you’ll need it for the reservation fee, don’t worry it’s safe. Another tip is to rent a pocket wifi (you’ll need it, I swear). We used Global Advanced Communications wifi and you can actually choose from a lot of options depending on which is more beneficial to your travel situation, you don’t even have to worry on how or where to pick it up because you can choose for it to be delivered to your hostel or hotel for free (they will even deliver it the day before you arrive, you just have to inform your hostel beforehand about the delivery).

Osaka: The Deliciousness

Osaka is also known in Japan as the nation’s kitchen. There are restaurants everywhere, like literally everywhere you turn. Malls dedicate two or more floors of the building just to eateries.I spent four weeks in Osaka, I spent the most of my money on food and I don’t regret it and I need to go back haha, because there is still a lot I didn’t get to taste. In this post I’ll be sharing a few dishes I had the fortune to experience, also sweets, soup, tea, drinks, snacks, all Japanese. While staying there, I tried as much as possible to stick to Japanese cuisine, even when I couldn’t resist going into subway, I ended up getting a komatsuna and sesame pound cake. It wasn’t sweet, like the cake I know kind of sweet, but now I know what it tastes like and am glad I tried.

Highlights from Kansai, Japan

We were bound for the Kansai region, which is on the southern part of Japan.  Since Kansai is already a pretty big place, we opted to focus our tours on 2 major cities: Osaka and Kyoto, and made quick side trips to two other cities: Nara and Kobe.

OSAKA Amazing Pass: A ticket for having more fun with less cost

If you are planning a trip that you would like to stay in OSAKA for deep travel, do not miss to add this ticket/the pass on your list. Osaka is the biggest city in western Japan, has more than 2 million population. In this kind of busy city, it has a very convenient underground system but complicating. Well, if you are not good at the direction… You can stay here for 1 to 7 days and make your unique experience in this modern city.
