The beaches

Montego Bay’s beaches were also stunning, there was this private beach called ‘Doctor’s Cave’ that my sister and I frequented whenever we were there and it cost a little to get in but we weren’t bombarded by people trying to sell us random stuff and we were left alone to enjoy the views and the glorious weather. We also went to this Americanised bar called ‘Margaritaville’ in Montego Bay, and there was a slide that led right to the sea.

What You Need to Know Before Travelling to Jamaica

When you step off the plane at the Donald Sangsters International Airport in the resort town of Montego Bay, the first thing that will welcome you is the sweltering heat of the Jamaican sun. Immediately, you will wish for your swimsuit and a refreshing bottle of Red Stripe beer, the Jamaican beer of choice and a nice stretch of sand on  Doctor’s Cave Beach on which to relax. Do not worry, all that will come in due time. The second thing you will be welcomed by is the warm hospitality of the Jamaican people.

How to experience Jamaica like a local

I had planned a trip to Jamaica since I first fell in love with reggae music and the Jamaican culture. But, being a full-time student and only having small student jobs it wasn’t easy to save up all that money (around 2000€) for the whole trip.  Finally, on the 24th of December 2016, we were on our way to Jamaica. We had booked our flight already in May 2016 via Skyscanner, which was 1,100€. Having a small budget, we booked our apartment in Montego Bay via Airbnb. Which by the way is in my opinion always the best solution if you want to have a whole apartment for yourself, pay a good price (417€ for 12 days for two people) and be with locals.
