In Pakistan

I was born in Lahore, more than half of my life has been in Karachi, with only a short period of time being spent in Islamabad. However, I have one stern belief: Islamabad is heaven on earth relative to other cities of Pakistan.

There are a number of things to do and places to visit in Islamabad. Many people say they like Islamabad due to its cleanliness. People (including me) across Pakistan love Islamabad for a number of reasons, and here’s a few of them:

The Scenery

Pakistan’s Capital City is neatly nestled in the Potwar Plateau, which gives it an urban mountain city feel. One of the most prominent features of Islamabad is the evergreen Margalla Hills. The Margalla Hills give a touch of serenity to the federal capital, which is hard to find in any other city of Pakistan.

Margalla Greens Golf Club

The MGGC is located in the E-8 Sector of Islamabad. It is one of the most elite golf clubs in the northern region of Pakistan. The clubhouse gives an amazing view of the Margalla Hills along with an exhilarating view of the world-renowned Faisal Mosque.

The club is administered by the Pakistan Navy, which gives it a touch of military-style decency. The staff is extremely hospitable and welcoming.

Pir Sohawa

This famous hilltop station offers one of the best sights of the capital city. I personally endorse visiting Pir Sohawa during nighttime, because that’s when you can truly witness the splendor of Islamabad.

Pir Sohawa comes after a 20-minute drive from the main city, taking you through an aura of fauna by a steep, curvy road. You’re gonna need some stiff driving skills to be able to take your car till the station without stalling if you have a manual, so taking an automatic transmission car is highly recommended.

Daman-e-Koh

Daman-e-Koh is another well-known hill station of Islamabad. It has designated viewing points along with food stalls and other recreational activities to help you spend your time fruitfully.

It is roughly a 10-minute drive from the main city and takes the same route that goes up to Pir Sohawa.

The Food Outlets

Islamabad boasts quite a strong lineup of amazing food outlets, with some of them being unique solely to the capital city along with being famous throughout the country. Some of them are:

Savour Foods

Ahh, Savour. Albeit most of Islamabad’s elite population seldom cares about going here, the ones who do go are full of praises for the outlet. It’s most famous product is its “pulao” (seasoned rice). Most people order this dish along with Savour’s famous Kebab and a chicken piece of their choice.

Savour’s main outlet is in Blue Area while 2 of its sister branches are located in Islamabad’s twin city, Rawalpindi. P.s. You might have to spend a lot of time waiting for a table to gt vacant if you go on a weekend, so plan your visit thoughtfully!

Their amazing food ALWAYS had me coming back for more!

Hotspot Café

Hotspot has been an elite-favorite since its inception in 1995. The story of its birth is quite exciting and inspirational too!

People go to Hotspot mainly for its amazing ice cream and shakes. Hotspot has a number of branches in Islamabad. One is in sector F-7, another is in sector F-6 while you can find one more in the Saidpur Village.

Going here every weekend was a must for me and my friends!

Monal

Monal is a must-visit place if you’re in Pir Sohawa. It’s a family restaurant that offers a wide range of cuisine to cater all taste preferences. Many people visit Monal after a tiresome hike thorough Islamabad’s Hike Trail 3, as well!

It’s located in Pir Sohawa, which makes it a perfect location for nature lovers. Do note, however, that Monal isn’t quite economical and you might have to empty a hefty amount from your wallet to have a decent family meal there.

Tuscany Courtyard

As evident by the name, Tuscany is the go-to place for lovers of Italian and intercontinental cuisine. They offer a wide range of culinary beauties that can excite your taste buds beyond words!

I personally recommend their White Sauce Fettuccini Alfredo and their Red Hot Texas Steak. Both of these are filling and delicious at the same time!

Tuscany is located in the Kohsar Market, which is in Sector F-6.

The Shopping Malls

Unlike Karachi and Lahore, Islamabad doesn’t have a huge lineup of shopping malls. The two main malls, however, are state of the art and are one of the best places to visit in Islamabad if you’re a shopaholic!

The Centaurus

This architectural masterpiece is in a class of its own in the shopping mall range of Pakistan. The three towers of Centaurus have become a significant landmark for the residents and expats of Islamabad alike.

Centaurus boasts a long roster of world-renowned international as well as local brands within its premises. Along with that, it’s cinema, the Centaurus Cineplex, is a fan-favorite of most movie lovers of Islamabad. Oh, and how can I forget Fun City! The small indoor amusement venue is a very good option for people of all ages who are looking to spend their time with loads of fun.

Centaurus is located in the F-8 sector of Islamabad, which is the center of Islamabad. You can get breathtaking views of the Margalla Hills from Centaurus’ vast restaurant terraces!

Managed getting this beautiful shot of Centaurus around 7 pm!

Safa Gold

There used to be a time when Centaurus prevailed as the market leader of shopping malls in Islamabad. Then came along Safa Gold Mall.

Its building looks sleek and modern and it has a significant list of international brands within its premises. It has managed to take away a major chunk of Centaurus’ visitors, which can be attributed to the fact that it has a relatively better crowd management system. It has a number of international food chains’ outlets in the food court, which helps shoppers freshen up during their shopping extravaganza.

Safa Gold is located in sector F-7, which is one of the most elite sectors of Islamabad.

So, has this been enticing for you? Which of these places will you be going to? Tell us below in the comments!

Do share this if you find it relatable!
