France is a unique country that you will never forget for sure. Every city or a small village that has been visited will ask you to come back again and again. That is Paris for me: the city of lights, history, and beauty in every single detail. Paris is the unique place that I simply cannot stop coming back. Unfortunately, the prices in the capital are always higher than in the province as in any other country. So, is there any possibility to save up? The answer is yes! In this article, I’m gonna tell you how to visit Paris and do not come back home with absolutely empty pockets. Moreover, there are a lot of enjoyable activities that can be totally free for you!

Do not use public transport

Instead of wasting your time in hot and overcrowded metro trains why don’t you walk more? The point is that all of the main places in Paris are situated not so far away from each other. It will take you from 10 to 45 minutes to walk from one famous place to another. Even if your walk will last for hours it is the only way to explore the real city with its hidden places, secret local’s cafes and cozy streets with no tourists but the spirit of real french city life. Also, walking a couple of hours every day will give you a perfect opportunity to eat an extra baguette without any pangs of consciousness.Typical street in Paris

Get your free excursion through the city

There is an incredible opportunity to see Paris through the eyes of a local person. Volunteers propose you to explore the city for free! Use Greeters Paris to make an appointment with an ambassador who would become your guide without any payment. I strictly recommend trying, because it is a perfect opportunity not only to know about the history of the city but although to find a new local friend ( as it has happened to me personally).

Take a free boat trip by the river Seine

If you happen to be in Paris on your birthday then you need to know that the agency Vedettes de Paris offers you a gift of 1 hour of free sightseeing cruise and a glass of champagne in addition. All you need to do is to show your ID on Vedettes de Paris registration desk before the cruise.Evening in Paris

Go to Louvre with no fee

All of the greatest museums of France like The Louvre, Orsay Museum, Picasso Museum, Centre Pompidou and so on are free of charge every first Saturday of a month. Besides, there are numerous museums and exhibitions to visit without paying a dime any day of the week. You can check the full list on the official website of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Paris.
Hidden places in Paris

Dance near the river Seine

There are a couple of dance points in Paris like Republique square, Grand Opera steps and the quay of the river Seine which are opened to the public. You will find the enthusiasts who teach tango or salsa there almost every evening in summer. These places are welcome for people of any age and dance level. So, don’t be shy to join and enjoy.

Eat for free

Yes, I’m serious. Go to Roberta ( Italian restaurant, 5 bis rue la Vieuville) from Friday to Sunday from 5 pm till 7 pm, ask for any cocktail and receive a big plate of antipasti in gratis. Tribal cafe (3 cour des Petites Ecuries) proposes a plate of free couscous if you buy a drink every Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. Want to try some local food? Le Bouillon Belge organizes Moule’s party every Wednesday at 8 pm. You pay for a beer 2.90 euro only and they give you free mussels like a present. There are a huge amount of offers like this, just don’t be lazy to look for.

Enjoy the view of Paris rooftops

Instead of paying 10 euro per every single ride to the top of Arc de Triomphe, Tour Eiffel or Montparnasse tower go to the highest floor of Galerie Lafayette. You will find a great terrasse with the magical view of the city 100% free. There are although many incredible rooftops that I strictly recommend like Georges at the Centre Pompidou, Khayma Rooftop Bar on the top floor of the Generator hostel, Le 43 Cocktail Bar on the roof of Holiday Inn Paris Notre-Dame. To visit all of these places you have to pay for one cocktail at least of course, but anyway you will receive a view, a drink and a cozy evening with your money, not only the view.

Use Meetup to find many free events in the city

I tried it by myself every day for a week. You cannot even imagine how many interesting people I meet. Free rose degustation, yoga class, a comic’s concert, picnic, and many other things were gratis or for a donation only. Why not try and meet people from all over the world to enjoy the city of light together?

Live with locals thanks to Couchsurfing

If you still out of this news there is a way to find a place to stay in almost any city in the world for free, as a guest in someone’s hospitable house. Yes, I know, it could be appropriate for a few days only and you may be worried about safety with the strangers and so on. But there is although one of the best possibilities to dive into a locals life, to save up your money and to find new friends. So it’s worth it.

Learn about Pass Jeunes

Le Mairie de Paris gives the numerous free offers for people from 15 to 25 who live this summer in Paris. Just check the official website, book your Pass Jeunes and enjoy the discounts or reduced-price activities.

France is a unique country with unforgettable capital. An impressive history mix with contemporary big city life in every single step in Paris. As you can see it is possible to enjoy such a priceless cocktail almost for free. So, don’t waste your time, book the flight!
