Torquay is one of the main resorts in the English Riviera. The town is with a rich history and great places to enjoy, beautiful parks with palm trees and colourful tulips during the spring and nice harbour with a lot of amusements. Of course, nice beaches to spend your summer. Many English people are enjoying there time in the nice boutique hotels. There are small boats that can easily bring you in the closest towns in Torbay like Brixham.
You can start your walk from the top of the hill where is starting the main street on Union Street. Many of the streets with nice small hotels and bed and breakfast places around are leading you there where is full of nice shops, coffee places and many restaurants. On your way you will see the townhouse, the cinema building and some of the main supermarkets, so everything is concentrated there. Walking down you will reach the Fleet Walk where you can find many shops of famous brands.
If you keep walking down you will reach the beautiful inner harbour. The view is amazing and on the left side of the harbour, you will see a hill with old nice buildings which are amazing boutique hotels, inns, tearooms, souvenir shops and many cute restaurants where you can try traditional dishes and nice ale. You can enjoy the view of a lot of boats around and you can have delicious seafood for lunch or romantic dinner. On your way, you can enjoy also many galleries and you can visit the Dinosaur World especially if you are with children. There are many models of life-sized dinosaurs and a lot of games for kids that want to be anthropologists.
If you walk a bit further you will reach Living Coasts which is amazing zoo where you can see in a realistic natural environment different kinds of birds, aquatic mammals, puffins, penguins and many representatives of the sea life. The place is up to the hill, so you can enjoy the magnificent view looking over Torquay bay.
After you can go back to the entrance of the Inner Harbour and the Fleet Walk and this time you take the right side of the harbour which will lead you to the beautiful Princess Gardens. There are a promenade and beautiful flower gardens with fantastic water fountain. There is also the Princess Theatre, the English Riviera Wheel and the breathtaking panorama of the harbour.
Agatha Christie House By Bus
You can continue your walk next to the boardwalk and you will pass through beautiful beaches on your right side and even more amazing gardens from your left side with palm trees and colourful tulips. I love this combination because I have never seen such beauty before. During your walk, you will see the pick-up points of the Green Vintage Bus that you can take and visit Agatha Christie’s summer home Greenway by the river of Dart. This experience to be on a vintage bus is interesting and brings you back in time through fairytale castles on the way. The driver is nice and he will tell you more about the life of the famous writer Agatha Christy and her criminal books.
