Being the capital of UAE Abu Dhabi is a land of rich culture and heritage and unique dining. Abu Dhabi’s heritage attractions, historic sites, museums, and arts will give you a glimpse of its rich culture.

Cuisines from around the world mingle in this desert land and will provide you with a vibrant and varied mix of international flavors.

This desert kingdom that’s surrounded by seas has so much to offer. Have fun in the waters of Abu Dhabi. Make a splash and swim in the shimmering turquoise waters, gently relax on the white beaches and immerse yourself in a sailing legacy that stretches back to centuries.

Planning a visit to this great city? Being an expat, I’ve listed below some of the popular tourist attractions in Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Considered the largest mosque in the World, Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque incorporates architectural styles from different Muslim civilizations. Made of Macedonian marble this beautiful building is Abu Dhabi’s landmark building and also the most popular sightseeing attraction in the country.

Louvre Abu Dhabi

Being the first universal museum in the Arab World Louvre showcases the artistic achievements of humans from the Neolithic age unto the present day. Taking a cue from ancient Arabian engineering, it consists of a Falaj (irrigation system) inspired water system running through the museum. The museum showcases artworks from ancient Egyptian sculpture to beautiful paintings by Picasso.

Ferrari World

If you’re an adventure junkie, then you’ll thoroughly enjoy this place because it is all about the thrill of Formula One racing. Whether you want to go-kart race with your family, or want to try the intense G-force of world-class rollercoasters Ferrari World has endless fun for you.

Kids can test their driving skills on the Junior GT track, while older brave hearts can buckle up and enjoy the Flying Aces roller coaster. Flying Aces is the tallest inverted loop in the world climbing 52 meters. And clock up the speed of up to 120 km per hour.

Sir Bani Yas Island

Recently awarded the ‘World’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination’ this Arabian wildlife park is one of the regions largest wildlife reserves.
This island is home to 10,000 free roaming animals including indigenous Arabian Oryx and gazelles. Also, leopards, giraffes, hyenas, and cheetahs freely roam within this vast reserve. You can book either a 4×4 safari, walking safari, or horse riding tours. Also, there are other activities like mountain biking, hiking, and kayaking.

Mangrove Kayaking Tours

Paddle through the Mangrove forests in Abu Dhabi and admire this true blessing of UAE. Enjoy the tranquil solitude by listening to the musical rhythm of flowing water in the mangrove forest. Create lifetime memories by enjoying the glossy foliage of the mangroves and understand the ecology of these humble giants.

Abudhabi Falcon Hospital

Being the World’s first and largest hospital dedicated to falcons, the Abu Dhabi falcon hospital provides guided tours for interested visitors. You can get up and personal with these birds as well as visit an onsite museum that explains the history of falconry.

Falconry is deeply rooted in this culture. The Falcons are issued passports to avail high-quality check-ups, treatments, and feather substitutions. Visit this unique hospital and witness a falcon pedicure, experience the majestic falcons swop through the free flight aviary and make friends with the birds as they perch on your arm.

While in Abu Dhabi, you can buy Arab crafts and pick up a piece of Arab gold jewelry from the Gold Souq. If you’re keen on purchasing Arabic carpets, shawls, trays, textiles, as well as spices and incense have a look around in the World Trade Center Spuq.

Visit Abu Dhabi and enjoy the hospitality, grandeur, and luxury this desert kingdom has to offer.
