An Open Space for Creative Ideas

By the way, NEVER cross the street randomly! The reason is that, although Taiwanese people are gentle, the traffic in Kaohsiung is famous for its speed and density. On your way to the nearest crossroad, you can also take an eye on the peripheral area of the center.

Daytime- Taipei tree frog

If you go to the MRT station “Xiangshan”, you might see the Installation art of some frogs. What they portraited is exactly the Taipei tree frog which is not only an endemic species of Taiwan but also an endangered species. Although the news reported that Taipei tree frogs have been recovered in the Zhongqiang Park near MRT “Xiangshan” station, I have never seen them there for all these years, maybe because they hide too well in the Zhongqiang Park, but I saw these tree frogs several times in the Fuyang Ecological Park. They are the reason why I like to go hiking in the morning.

Coolest Buildings in Taichung, Taiwan!

Just before school starts, I had a getaway in a city in the middle of west Taiwan. I’ve spent few years of my childhood in Taichung, and it has changed a lot. This city may not be the largest in Taiwan, but because it doesn’t contain as much business buildings or high-rises as Taipei, it has more space to have buildings with more special exterior. These are some of the buildings that I’ve been to or passed by before, and I think they are good places to visit and take photos at!

Enjoy Tainan as a Local

Time to get another point of view of Tainan on Taiwan. Tainan, a city located in a southern part of Taiwan, is the oldest city. It is said to be a food paradise which I can only confirm. It is also famous for temples, historical buildings and crazy traffic. Initially Tainan was established by the Dutch East India Company and was a trade center known as Fort Zeelandia.

Ginkgo Plantation

As we continued on we made a stop to check out some Ginkgo trees. Ginkgo trees are native to China but don’t grow wildly anymore. There were originally planted in Taiwan here in Ginkgo. They grow a fruit that is supposed to be edible and promote good respiration, though this fruit can be poisonous if overeaten.

Purchasing Local Train Tickets

To purchase local train tickets, there are two methods – either at the machine or at the counter.  If you purchase it at the machine, you’ll need coins as they only accept coins and not bills!  There should be a bill changing machine nearby.  You will also need to know where exactly you want to go in Taiwan (North, East, West, South) because they divide their destinations according to each of the four directions.  This Fulong beach is in the East part of Taiwan.

TAIPEI: MAKING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR WEEKEND AND WALLET

If anyone knows this well, it’s me. I was familiar with it before but now I’m living it on a daily basis. This past March, I packed up my life in Boston and moved across the world to the beautiful country of Taiwan. Living here for the past six months has taught me a few important things; how to be a patient person, how to push myself outside of my comfort zone, and above all, how to travel on a budget.

Yunlin, a place full of greens in Taiwan

Yunlin, a county of Taiwan, the place I was born and grew up, is often forgotten in tourists’ guidebooks or mainstream media. I feel an urge to promote the real beauty of it…

Why Choose Taiwan for Your First Solo or Duo Travel Abroad

For a young Filipino adventurer aiming at his or her first-time overseas trip, things can either be exciting or risky. Take note, solo travels are not really my thing, but when I went to Taiwan and stayed there for six days, it’s mindset-changing. Solo travels can actually be exhilarating and safe at the same time!

A Weekend in Taipei, Taiwan

Taipei, capital city of the small island nation of Taiwan in East Asia, a modern metropolis reminiscent of Hong Kong, Tokyo and Shanghai. Crowded streets, rowdy night markets and bustling nightlife – everything a nocturnal being like myself could possibly crave for is right here in Taipei.

TAIPEI METRO - SHANDAO TEMPLE STA. : Getaway Inside the City

One of my Singaporean friends is coming to visit Taiwan this week. When we were discussing about her itinerary the other day, she mentioned that she would arrive Taiwan at around 6 on a Friday morning. The very first spot on her list is Fuhang Soy Milk (????). She plans to go there right after leaving the airport and checking-in at the hotel. With always a long long queue, this Fuhang Soy Milk reminds me my old time around Shandao Temple Station (????), a small station in Taipei Metro System.

The Best Soup Dumplings in Taipei

I lived in Taipei, Taiwan for 6 years and over the years I gained 10 pounds, because Taiwan is known for is good food. I also had a lot of friends come visit. So much so that my two sisters, my flatmate and I have developed an unofficial list of the things that you must do in Taipei, most of it is food, and we hand these information down freely to all our friends and acquaintances who ask us for advice.
