The  Charterhouse of Cartuja:

Another most see tourist buildings in Grenade, is the charterhouse of the Carthusian monastery, this was built on an Arabic Carmen called Aynadamar which means fountain of tears. This was begun to build in 1506 but the construction was completed until three centuries later. For me personally the Carthusian monastery has a great emotional value, because in my first week and a half in the city I lived in a residence behind the charterhouse, and every day that was the view from my window … in fact my first photo in Granada is a picture of the “Cartuja”.

Where to eat:

All in all, Alicante is such a special place. You can live a relaxing beach life there and take a train to Granada for some classic Spanish architecture or to Madrid for some shopping or to explore the history.

Small Towns: Úbeda and Baeza

As you walk through the streets of the old towns, it feels like you have taken a step into the past. This is reflected in the Renaissance architecture and never-ending monuments. There are 48 in Úbeda – quite a lot for a small town! Yet I would not be surprised if there were double the number of quaint bars dotted around. Like in Granada, a free plate of tapas comes with any drink ordered. Need any more incentive to visit now? Úbeda and Baeza are highly elevated at 748m and 769m above sea level respectively, meaning that they each look out to extraordinary views of the vast plains of olive trees and the magnificent mountains of the Sierra Mágina and the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas. To top it all off, in winter the mountains are sometimes snow-capped! If there was one constant in my life for the nine months I lived and worked in these towns, it would be that jaw-dropping view that made me go running every day, just so I could see it!

SEVILLA, SPAIN

My 6-hour train ride from Almeria to Sevilla was quite scenic as I passed through Granada and Malaga. Sevilla lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir and is one of the largest historical centers in Europe. It is Spain’s fourth-largest city and the capital of Andalusia. The heart of the city is the Cathedral and the Giralda Tower. The Cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral and third largest church in the world. It is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

5 reasons to come back to Granada, Spain

It’s seven o’clock in the morning as I board with my travel companions in the bus that will take us from the frisky Seville, to the Moorish city : Granada.

Precious diamond of Andalucia – visit Granada

For me, a girl from northern Europe, all the countries in the south look so appealing. The warmth, the southern friendliness, palms on every street corner and beautiful seaside. These four things are the key to perfect holiday. That is why few months back I decided to pack my stuff and visit Andalucia. It is the most southern part of Spain, which borders Gibraltar (it makes a really nice one day trip going there). There are three main cities of the region – Malaga, Granada and Seville. I was lucky to visit all three of them.

Granada - The last Moorish city in Spain

I like to get lost, when I visit a new city. I expect the unexpected, and I always have the most exciting experiences when I’m not planning ahead. Granada is one of the best cities to get lost in. A historic city with a warm ambiance, Granada is one of the most interesting places I have visited in Spain. From the noise in the crowded tapas bars, to the silence in Sacramonte, a mountainside where people, to this day, are living in caves, Granada is a feast for the senses.

Granada, Spain: Where so many forms of beauty meet

Book tickets in advance. If you want to see the Alhambra (and trust me, you do), book tickets in advance. For anyone visiting the astonishing city of Granada in southern Spain, this is the first piece of essential advice you will need. Whatever else you do in preparation for your trip, just make sure you get those tickets reserved if you don’t want to pay the price in time, sleep and body temperature in the early hours of the morning.

Granada: You and the Alhambra have stolen my heart.

I lived in Granada for two years from 2013 – 2015, and I often go back and forth from my home in Seville. Granada had embraced me and told me I was home before we moved to Seville due to my husbands’ business. My heart is at peace when I am travelling, so that is what I do. I pack my little red suitcase and kiss my husband goodbye and off I go.

Alhambra: a love story

Last month I went to Granada with my boyfriend, which is located in Andalusia, Spain. For many years I wanted to discover Granada, for its history, culture, art and, above all, food. So after a little mourn to my boyfriend, he surprised me with a pair of tickets to visit the Alhambra. The Alhambra is an Andalusian palace city that integrates seamlessly with the place, as this citadel is located at the top of the hill Sabika, one of the highest points of the city of Granada. This citadel, dating from the tenth century, at first it was a military site, but in 1238 became a royal residence, where the monarch and the court of Kingdom of Granada were staying.

What to see in the city of Granada?

Granada is the capital of the province that has its same name, within the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. Yes, you guessed it, in the country of Spain.
