Iran Travel Guides for Backpackers

Yazd- the Jewel of the Desert

I believe that a true nomad, a true wanderer, in order to deserve his/her name, should actually go out of the comfort zone and every now and then, explore the road less travelled and go to less ‘orthodox’ places, off the beaten track. I believe I have converted this ‘once in a while’ into a personalized way of travelling, maybe I have slid into a sort of dependency and hehe, became an adrenaline junkie after all. And yes – Iran is one of those places that caught my attention not only because of its millennial history but also because of […]

The Pink mosque, Shiraz Oh no! Don’t go to Iran, there are protest there now, it is like war. That’s what we heard from our family and friends before we left the last city of Turkey, Dogubeyazit and started our way to Iran. We chose the northern border crossing, surrounded by beautiful mountain lands. We expected all good from Iran, we heard plenty of good stories from our fellow travelers and were really excited to finally experience the country on our own. Iran is, with its regime one of the most Muslim oriented countries in the […]

Piran – southern sun in Slovenia

Piran's coastline I remain in awe of the tiny 'chicken' shaped country of Slovenia snuggly located in southern central Europe. The wonderment stems from such a small country squeezing in so much variation in culture, climate, language and landscapes. Having recently moved to the capital city Ljubljana, I was keen to set out on more rural but relaxing adventures.     A weekend in Piran confirmed why I should feel amazed by one of the 'chicken' legs of Slovenia. Piran is situated in south-western Slovenia. It faces Italy across The Gulf of Trieste and the Adriatic Sea. […]

When I told my friends about my plans, most of their reactions will be like: “Why must you go to such dangerous place alone?!”, “Is it even safe?”, “What if you got kidnapped?!” and the funniest i got was “Is your boyfriend […]

Biliran, an unspoiled paradise in the Philippines! Biliran used to be a sub-province of Leyte before it became an independent province in 1992. The province is indeed reach with natural resources that are unspoiled and undiscovered, maybe because of the distance and lack of tourist information. Sambawan and Higatangan Island made us decide to go to Biliran and it surely did not disappoint! :) How to get there: From Tacloban – Get to the nearest Van-Van’s terminal and take a van bound to Naval (Biliran’s capital town). Fare per person is at P120 ($2.5) and travel time from Tacloban to Naval […]

My solo adventure to Iran

Why the “dangerous” Iran? When I told my mum I was going to Iran, she thought I was losing it. She repeatedly tried to convince me to forget about it. I lied, admitting she was right and that I would choose somewhere else to travel to. Instead, I was more convinced. I can’t remember how many times I’ve been told stuff like: Iran? They are bombing people around there. I think there are many countries to travel to, why would you choose this one? You are crazy. Please, make sure you come back Well, I want to join your trips […]
