From Bali – Take the fast boat from any of the three ports Serangan, Padang Bai and Amed. Tickets cost around 45 USD one way to the                  island(s) and the journey takes from 60 – 100 minutes. You can book the tickets from any travel agent in Bali. You could also take the public                      ferry which is much cheaper but takes 5 hours to reach the islands.

This is a taxi app, similar to Uber, however, we had a few problems getting Uber to work around Indonesia. Grab allows you to pay by cash so you don’t have to faff around with currency conversion charges and the prices are really good! We took a Grab from Seminyak to Padang Bai, and this cost 120,000 rupiah for 2 hours in the taxi! Can’t go wrong for $12.

4. Gili Air: The best beaches and a relaxed pace of life

Gili Air is one of three islands (the Gilis) that can be reached by speedboat from Padang Bai in Bali within two hours. Technically, they are not part of Bali but located on Lombok (another part of Indonesia) but because of their proximity, most people include them on their Balinese journey. And they do that for a reason. Gili Air was absolutely my favorite part of my Bali trip.

Padang Padang Beach.

Kuta beach is one of the favorite spots for surfers both professional and beginners. And there is no entrance fee! Kuta beach is also a popular place to watch the sunset as coast becomes like a mirror in the evening. Padang Padang Beach.

Padang Padang beach :

Padang Padang beach : The world is small. This is a summary of Padang, a tiny beach with transparent water dug in the rocks around you. Take a small alley populated with monkeys and you’re there. At the appointment, people from around the world. Forget the calm and serenity here. You will need to be patient to find a place in high saison. Why we have stayed there ? Because we are all there to enjoy the beautiful view while others eat a burger around one or two Bintang between two surfs sessions. It’s paradise for some, unbearable crowd for others. If you are looking for quiet, don’t go. But don’t regret .. Haha

Padang Padang Beach: Uluwatu

Padang Padang Beach: Uluwatu With its high surrounding cliffs and shallow waters it’s a very nice place to relax in while watching the sunset,

Bukit Peninsula (Southern part of the island)

This is the area where the most beautiful beaches of Bali are located. Reef in the bottom makes the waves break clean which makes Bukit really popular place to surf. It is also home of two most famous surf breaks in Bali – Uluwatu and Padang Padang. My personal favorite is Padang Padang beach which is really beautiful but on the downside it is also quite touristic.

Everyone goes to Bali - Why not visit Sumatra this time? Part 1.

To be more precise, I arrived to Padang in West Sumatra, which is the native land of the minangkabau people. They would describe themselves as very friendly. And indeed, minangs are the most friendly and welcoming people I have ever met. With always a smile on their face, they were helping and caring for me for a year, accepting me as family and teaching me about their ways. During this year I also had the chance to discover the hidden little treasures of this multifaceted corner of our Earth.

Bali’s Best Beaches

Padang Padang Beach: This beach is a hot spot for tourists, but deservingly so. To get to the beach you follow a short path through narrow cliffs, leading to a very calm beach. On the left of the beach you’ll find loads of monkey filled trees atop a cliff, whereas the right side is filled with large meter tall rocks throughout the sand. There are plenty of beach vendors offering snacks and drinks here.

How to get to Nusa Penida from Sanur Harbor:

There are a lot of fast boats heading to Nusa Penida from Sanur harbor, leaving every hour or 30 minutes depending on the fast boat company. You can also go to Nusa Penida from Padang Bai Harbor, but if you’re planning to stay around Kuta, Sanur is the most convenient place to get there.
