Take a dip
Moving away from food.. Some more trips that are definitely worth the money or doing yourself if you can hire a car for cheaper. I met friends in Cairns and they had their own camper van so we decided to create an adventure and explore Cape Tribulation by ourselves which is quite simple as it is a fairly straight Road frim the city but beware in your budget as there is a toll for an unavoidable ferry $25 return, but after that you are free! There are plenty of view points and small secluded beaches to find as well as mini treks and sights so take your boots! There is so much to see and do that you could easier camp there and use two days to explore thoroughly.

Driving through Queensland
A couple of hours after Maria cought the flight back home, I’ve hit the road again with my new travel mate Rapahelle for the last part of my roadtrip. We drove from Brisbane more than 2000 kilometers north through the Sunshine State Queensland up to Cape Tribulation in the tropical rain forest and back to the final destination Cairns. The distances between the cities in Queensland are significantly bigger compared to the other parts in Australia, where I drove through so far. Along the straight and never ending roads are now many signs in order to remind you of taking a break to refresh. Mostly they express it a bit more harshly with sentences such as „Rest or R.I.P“, „Rest and survive“, „retrieve and survive“, „Rest and survive this drive“. Besides those signs you also find funny signs with sentences such as „Papa, are we there yet?“, „Still a long way to go kids!“, „Mama, I gotta pee“. Another way to keep drivers awake are trivia games. They work like this: One sign asks a question such as „What’s the biggest living thing in the world?“ and some kilometers later comes a sign with the answer „The Great Barrier Reef“.

Cape Tribulation wasn’t spoken of often, but boy oh boy, it was the most enthusiastic mention when I did hear of it.

Australia: from Cairns to Cape Tribulation in just one day
During one of my days off, I decided to leave Cairns and to reach the famous Cape Tribulation. If you have more than one day you can also decide to reach Cape Tribulation in 2 or 3 days, stopping for the night in Port Douglas or in the rainforest and giving yourself more time to enjoy what this trip has to offer.
